Packing List
These are the items needed for Adventure Camp overnight camping trips. Gear for daily activities will be provided by Adventure Camp. Dress appropriately for the weather. Any medications MUST be brought to the attention of the Adventure Camp Director (Ric).
The items from the following list can be purchased rather inexpensively from Walmart or K-Mart. Target, Sports Authority, and Dick's Sporting Goods also sell these items at a slightly higher price. You might already own most of this gear and may be able to borrow the rest from friends and family.
Space is limited- Think small/ pack light
GEAR
- MESS KIT (steel or aluminum)
- EATING UTENSILS, CHOW KIT, SPORK, or HOBO SET
- Plastic or Metal WATER BOTTLE
- BUG SPRAY or Organic Home- Made BUG SPRAY (recipe in "Rix Tips")
- 2 PACKS - 1 large back pack (or duffle bag) and 1 small day pack (that fits into the larger one)
or hydration pack (with storage pockets)
- extra large plastic TRASHBAGS (2) or 6x8 or 8x10 plastic TARP or TARP/ PONCHO
- BANDANAS (1 red, 1 blue suggested)
- anti- bacterial HANDSOAP/ BODYSOAP (in a small bottle)
- HEADLAMP (with fresh batteries)
- TOWEL
- SCOUR PADS or sponge with a scrubby side
- DEODORANT and TOILETRIES (toothbrush, toothpaste, lotions, hair gel, etc)
- SLEEPING BAG
- SLEEPING BAG MAT
- packable RAIN JACKET, TARP/ PONCHO, or disposable RAIN PONCHO
CLOTHING
Pack only one outfit (t- shirt, shorts, socks, & underwear) per day.
- SUPPORTIVE FOOTWEAR like "hiker" boots (waterproof preferable)
- SOCKS
- UNDERWEAR
- T-SHIRT
- SHORTS
- WATER SHOES, FLIP- FLOPS, or SANDALS
- (1) PJ BOTTOMS or SWEATPANTS & (1) HOODIE SWEATSHIRT (for cool nights)
- (1) BATHING SUIT
- (1) LONG SLEEVED SHIRT
- (1) PAIR OF LONG PANTS OR (1) PAIR OF ZIP- OFF (CONVERTIBLE) PANTS
The backpack should be 20 lbs or less total weight. If its over 20 lbs, consider what has been packed. Are there too many clothes? Can some items serve double duty? Have unneccessary items (not on the list above) been packed?

MEALS
Adventure Camp will provide breakfast and dinner (for trips getting back after 7 pm) during overnight camping trips. Meals will consist of traditional camp foods that are easy to carry, store, and prepare. Some examples include Ramen noodles, hot dogs, ravioli, pop tarts, granola bars, powdered drinks, hot chocolate, etc.
Campers should bring about $10-12 per day (during camping trips) for road stop snacks
and lunches.
